Strategy
S7 is focused on building operating businesses as opposed to operating as a fund seeking an ROI on isolated transactions. We prefer to acquire majority ownership positions and we specialize in transactions in which complex or creative structuring may be required. We target investments in both private and public companies with annual revenues ranging from $1 million to $100 million. Smaller opportunities may be considered for strategic reasons such as acquiring access to intellectual property, customer base, geographic presence or reducing time to market.
While we do not restrict ourselves by industry, we do have a preference for and look for investments in all areas of the technology industry with an emphasis on companies or markets that are in a state of transition such as businesses with a fragmented competitive environment, a lack of access to capital, undergoing a technology based transition and/or a facing fundamental shifts in end-market demand. We believe successful investing in the technology sector requires specialized knowledge and experience. The S7 team have specific skills and experience necessary to identify and evaluate the complex operational and strategic issues unique to change-intensive, growth-oriented companies. Our experience includes significant investing, merger and acquisition and capital raising transaction experience across multiple segments of the technology industry, including software, Internet services, hardware and IT enabled services.
S7 generally does NOT provide capital in return for minority positions. S7 generally takes majority and or control positions. In some cases we will take a minority position, however, this will usually involve the use of options or other financial instruments that would lead to a majority position.
